D944
Dinky 944 Shell-B.P. Fuel Tanker. Mint/boxed. RARE late issue with RED PLASTIC WHEELS in end flap box. One of the choice items from The Heart of England Collection.
Notes
Issued between 1963-70, this fine Dinky Supertoys model was issued in very limited numbers with red plastic wheels towards the end of the production run. In outstanding condition, complete with all “SHELL” and “B.P.” labels on both sides and rear.
This model has a bright white and yellow cab and body and white chassis. So often, the white plastic tank becomes discoloured and yellowed over time – happy to say that this example is a very bright and fresh white colour. Complete with tow hook and spare wheel still affixed. If you were looking to fault it, I suppose you could note that the axle ends are rather tarnished now. It seems over-harsh to downgrade from mint for that. The end flap pictorial box is the correct presentation for this late issue. So easily damaged since these boxes are comparatively flimsy, this one has survived better than most. Vivid colours on crisp, clean card and no tears. Couple of light creases and a handling rub at an end flap. Minor grubbiness.
An exceptionally scarce Dinky commercial model – only the second we have ever handled.
