D181
Dinky 181 Volkswagen. Very near mint/boxed. Very scarce issue in pale blue with blue plastic wheels. Pristine box! From the single owner from new collection in Buckinghamshire.
Notes
Many items from this collection were bought new during the 1960?s, after enquiring in toyshops for old, unsold shop stock.
This is the most difficult version to source ( allowing for the South African issues of course), and was made towards the end of a long production run. This example is in close to mint condition with a distinctive light blue original finish, deeper blue plastic wheels and the correct matte baseplate with a rather mis-fired rivet!
None of the expected wear to the body lines or indeed to the roof. Note that there is a small area of rough casting on one side and here there is a little minor paint loss. Few mere dots besides.
The correct later issue pale yellow card box is clean and vividly-coloured with the correct ‘blank’ spot at the end (not an over-sticker as was used with the earlier boxes, but imprinted on to the card). Pristine condition. Period price at an end flap.
