D502
Dinky 502 Foden. Scarce 1st type, two-tone blue. 1947-48. Near mint (but notable chip on the roof)/boxed. From a private Dinky collector in Tyne & Wear, England.
Notes
A scarce first type Foden with a light bright blue cab and back, dark blue chassis, flash and hubs.
1947-48 issue correct with no hook or tank slits. Lovely, original black herringbone tyres, including the spare. A very pleasing display piece attractively finished in this eye-catching two-tone blue. Bright metal parts including the axle ends.
At some time, this truck has incurred a notable chip at one corner of the cab roof. Few small dabs of repainting on the cab besides.
Usual little rubs at exposed edges of the flat bed. Wheel arches have miniscule marking.
Correct early buff box with complete, clean and bright paper labels (no nicks!). The card feels sturdy and unrubbed and has survived well with no splits or repairs. Clean. Minor rust marking at the staples. Correct colour spot at a lid end. Shopkeeper’s pencilled price of 9/6 at a lid end.
A scarce and desirable early Dinky Foden model.
