D943
Dinky 943 Leyland Octopus Tanker-ESSO. Very near mint/boxed.Very scarce issue with RED PLASTIC WHEELS. An exceptional item from a Dinky collector in Tyne & Weir, England.
Notes
This is a most sought-after classic Dinky tanker. Such a rare find anyway with red plastic wheels – but even more so, in this virtually shop-fresh condition! Vibrant red finish throughout. Tanker is tinplate with superb transfers on both sides and at rear. Complete with an intact ladder and manhole covers. None of the usual problems often found with these models i.e. rust, crazing, discolouration to the white transfer, flaking paint to the ladder – no dents in the tanker or indeed any rust spots.
A delight to behold, this tanker has an outstanding lustre.
Upon close inspection, there is just one dot to one transfer and a factory touch-in to the rear transfer. Presents really nicely with bright transfers – this tanker has been very carefully handled and stored. Not even the near-obligatory scuff at the tow hook. Minor dot at a couple of wheel arches.
The striped box is as nice as you could wish with such vibrant bright colours! None of the usual scuffing at corners, or indeed anywhere at all! Minor ink stain at box base underside. Virtually as fine as the day it left the factory some forty five years or so ago!
A most impressive example.
