D501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8 Wheel Wagon. *Scarce light grey and black 1st issue*. Very near mint/boxed. Another superb and scarce Dinky commercial from a Dinky collector in Tyne & Weir, England.
Notes
What a beauty! This early 1st type Foden has a pale grey cab and back, black chassis and red flash and hubs, fine original herringbone tyres. A rare find.
There are a very few little marks on the sides of the wagon back (if you hunt for them, they are not easy to see on this most forgiving of colour finishes).
This early Dinky Foden model has a wonderful, original lustre – surely one of the best surviving examples. Shiny metal parts including the axle ends.
The correct early buff box with a paper label is very clean, bright and complete. No nicks to the paper label and the colours are extremely fresh and vivid. Card feels sturdy and unrubbed. No splits. Minor rust staining to a couple of the staples. Light score mark through the paper label on the lid. Colour spot on the lid end. Shopkeeper’s period price of 10/ is pencilled. ‘Grey, Black’ has been neatly penned on the inside of the lid (also faintly written in pencil below it too)
A scarce Foden in this pale grey colour finish with early cab and herringbone tyres.
