Issued between 1969-72, this is a (probably unique) pre-production example in metallic purple – and the colour of the version pictured in a period Corgi promotional leaflet:
The Oldsmobile Toronado has ‘Take-Off Wheels’(Golden Jacks), and swivelling jewelled headlights. Spring suspension. Tow hook has had a tiny repair. As-new tyres.
With some chipping and plating on the bumpers has largely rubbed away now. Note too that a small section of the front bumper is no longer present.
A little piece of Corgi history – we doubt if there is another example in metallic purple!
