Corgi Gift Set 40 The Avengers

This attractive Gift Set was inspired by the t.v. show ‘The Avengers’ and is in impressive condition, issued between 1966-69.
It comprises:

1) John Steed’s Bentley in red and black finish, complete with all parts, and including the figure of John Steed at the wheel. Close to mint condition (small barely visible repair to the carriage lamp). Silver spoked wheels. Fine original tyres.

2) Emma Peel’s Lotus Elan S2 is in bright, white finish. Suspension on shaped spun wheels. Fine original tyres. Close to mint with a couple of small chips and a smudge of factory paint.

This set comes with three plastic umbrellas. These are notably the originals – so often they can go astray, particularly bearing in mind how small they are and how they were never stored in a packet but merely slotted into holes on the plinth. So many that we see have (pretty decent) replacements but they do lack the fine detailing of the originals. These originals have the furling details to the ‘rolled-up’ cloth part of the umbrella and delicate details on the handle, fine point at the base. Little details perhaps but really nice to see!
Inner card plinth has bright graphics which compliment the set well. Few small tears in one little area. Complete with both pull tabs.

Outer box is vividly-coloured and fresh-looking. Crisp feel. Minor handling tear. Light wear.
