Notes
It is such a delight to come upon these very early Dinky Delivery Vans and this one is all sound and intact with no parts broken or missing. These early vans made of lead composition do not suffer from the fatigue often found in the later second and third type vans.
This commercial Dinky was made for such a short time – between 1934-35 – so it is rare to come to the market-place. Original mid-green pigment, complemented by close to complete red ‘WAKEFIELD CASTROL MOTOR OIL’ lettering on both sides. Note the light green-washed wheels have had a rather clumsy application of black paint at some time to simulate tyres. May be possible to remove.
Sprinkling of chips commensurate with age, more at front wheel arches in particular (slight bend to the metal on one at this site too, but all sound and intact). Bright radiator surround, intact axles.
_A delight to own – these early advertising vans are in extremely short supply! _
