Corgi Gift Set 48

Notes

Issued by Corgi during 1968, this is a most sought-after Gift Set, complete with
the SUN-RALLY Mini (harder to find with the Morris grille) and the metallic bronze Hillman Imp.

In detail, this set comprises:
1) Corgi 1138 Ford Articulated Car Transporter in fresh and original scarlet red, blue with a very pale green-blue upper ramp, four intact red plastic chocks, cast wheels. The distinctive ‘Corgi Cars’ sign is gleaming bright on both sides, both paper labels are complete at the rear (minor top edge creasing to one. Notably, both wing mirrors are intact and still have the reflective pieces too. Straight, bare metal roof horns. Very near mint.

2) Corgi 252 Rover 2000 in lustrous metallic maroon with a cream interior. Trans-O-Lite issue with shaped spun wheels. Very near mint.

3) Corgi 251 Hillman Imp in bright metallic gold with a white stripe. Very near mint condition and notably, the suspension is present on all four spun wheels. Scarce colour issue. Very near mint (little chip at the rear and a couple of stray flicks of factory silver nearby).

4) Corgi 491 Ford Cortina Estate. Red version with brown and cream side panels, shaped spun wheels with suspension. Jewelled headlights. Very near mint.

5) Corgi 226 Morris Mini-Minor in lavender blue, red interior, shaped spun wheels. Very, very near mint.

6) Corgi 249 Morris Mini Cooper De-Luxe in black with a red roof and complete ‘wickerwork’ side and rear panels. Suspension on shaped spun wheels, jewelled headlights. Very, very near mint.

7) Corgi 333 Austin Mini Cooper ‘S’ Sun-RAC Rally with Morris grille is finished in red and white with suspension on detailed cast wheels. Delicate bonnet transfer has a very small nick to the bonnet centre line and a tiny edge nick. Fine original tyres. Very near mint.

All contents are housed in a complete, fresh and bright polystyrene inner.

Nice ‘Corgi Toys’ label.
This set comes with the Instruction Leaflet for the Corgi Car Transporter and original sealed packet of traffic cones.

The colourfully illustrated outer box has an intact original cellophane window (re-glued into place at some time). A little of the expected wear to the card now, including two small front edge tears. Couple of smaller tears on box reverse.
