Notes
Acknowledged in ‘The Great Book Of Dinky Toys’, this collector in the U.S. brings his 37 year collection to QDT. Included are some very rare items and a wealth of period literature and catalogues.
Dated November 1934, this is a truly outstanding Gift Set which has remained virtually untouched for over 80 years.
The 1st issue contents (with no registration letters on the wings) are still strung to the pale blue card insert.
The set comprises:

1) 60a Imperial Airways Liner, with ‘Sunray’ design in gold and dark blue (so eye-catching). Minor edge discolouration to one wing tip. Very near mint.
2) 60b De Haviland Leopard Moth in green and yellow. Virtually mint.
3) 60c Percival Gull in white and mid-blue. Very near mint.
4) 60d Low Wing Monoplane in red and cream. Virtually mint.
5) 60e General Monospar. Very near mint.
6) 60F Cierva Autogiro in gold and blue. Virtually mint.
The pale blue insert is clean and complete, with tiny wear only.
Vivid blue card base has barely any wear.
The colourful 2nd issue lid has day-one vibrant colours and just one corner edge crumple/scuff which has been taped at some time to prevent further damage. Little scuff besides. Red colour spot at a lid side.
Overall impression is remarkable! A poignant Dinky survivor to cherish.
