N170
Nicky 170 Lincoln Continental. Bright mid-blue with a white roof (only) version. Near mint plus/boxed. Scarce. From The Compton Collection.
Notes
Sought after models that are so difficult to find in good condition! Dinky dies were sold to the Indian Firm S. Kumar & Co. trading as Atamco. (1968-70). Often known as Indian-Dinky toys, the finish was poor in comparison.
A close to mint example finished in an eye-catching bright mid-blue with a white roof (only) with original silver details, off-white interior, steering wheel, and intact window glazing. Silver and black plastic one-piece tyres/wheels.
Shiny black base with ‘TOYS ’ and ’LINCOLN CONTINENTAL’ (the word DINKY obliterated) .
Light front edge roof rub and a little mark at the opening boot rim. Small dab of factory red paint near a rear light. Note that the rear screen has a small crack (probably factory assembly, attention to detail was not up to DInky standard!).
The colourful correct box (ATAMCO P LTD. Calcutta) is colourful, clean and complete. Little storage crumple and a remains of a price label at an end flap. Little wear. None of the usual edge rubbing .Period price label.
