D943
Dinky 943 Leyland Octopus Tanker-ESSO. Near mint plus/boxed. From The Reigate Collection.
Notes
This sought-after classic Dinky tanker was issued between 1958-64, this being an early issue with diecast wheels. Vibrant, original red finish throughout. Tanker is tinplate with superb transfers on both sides and at rear. Complete with an intact ladder and manhole covers. None of the usual problems often found with these models i.e. rust, crazing, discolouration to the white transfer, flaking paint to the ladder – no dents in the tanker or indeed any rust spots.
A superb display piece.
Upon close inspection, you will find the occasional little mark at some wheel arches, one bumper mark and a few minute transfer marks.
The striped ‘Supertoys’ box is very fresh, clean and bright. No graffiti. Period pencilled price at a lid end. Deep blue box base has a storage puncture and a couple of part-punctures..
