Very early Point of Sale Corgi Card Display promoting the range of mechanical models. Near mint. Very scarce item from 'The Monty Calme' Corgi Collection.
Notes
Only the second example we have ever offered for sale, this is one of our favourite display pieces.
A wonderful shop display piece which coincided with the release of the range of mechanical cars in 1956. Finished in the distinctive shade of blue (immediately evoking those early blue Corgi picture boxes), this card stand allows the shopkeeper to draw the eye to the slanted section where no doubt a Consul, Cambridge, Cowley or Rover 90 would have been placed.
Colours are vibrant and that includes the earliest Corgi representation of their logo ; Corgi Dog in tan and white within a red oval.
Note the little tear and an area of separation on the slanted section. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic display piece. Measures 21.5 cms wide x 26 cms high.
