From one of the largest, private collections we have ever seen, with many items bought new at the time and stored away until now. Taken as a whole, the collection provides an exciting, kaleidoscopic snapshot of popular diecast toys issued during the 1960?s -1970?s.

This delightful, fresh Comet Wagon has an all original vivid deep green cab and chassis, deep orange back, and lighter green grooved wheels. Issued between 1956-59 under this numbering.
A fine display piece in unused condition. We are reluctant, for instance, to drop down the hinged tailgate because it would appear never to have been done and we would not want to cause chipping at this site.

Nice bright baseplate with spare wheel in place. Original grey treaded tyres with ‘M’ embossed (tyres on one side have the typical age ‘yellowing’ but only slight in this instance). Correct for this box, this model has ‘Dinky Toys’ and not ‘Supertoys’ cast into the chassis, as well as 418 cast into the orange back underneath.

Cab is mint (including the roof), as are the wheel arches and fuel tank. Orange back has a very few tiny marks. Occasional minor rough casting.
The striped Dinky Toys box has such vivid, bright colours! Card is fresh and looks barely handled too. Ver minor age grubbiness. Little shelf rubbing to the deep blue base underside. Strip of lighter blue on the box base where it has come into prolonged contact with light. Staples are bright. U.S. Hudson Dobson label is clean and complete. ‘LF’ (lead free) Dinky label. Period U.S. price. Dinky stamp on the inside of the box lid dates this example from May 1956.
