D504
Dinky 504 Foden 14-Ton Tanker. *Rare version in CHERRY RED and fawn. Second type*. Excellent/boxed. From The Reference Collection of Dinky models compiled in the U.K.
Notes
A rare find indeed – this is the darker/cherry red and fawn 2nd type issue presented in a bright and clean 504 box with 1st type model illustrated (model can be presented in 504 box with either 1st or 2nd type illustrated).
Few issued with a cherry red cab. Made for a short time (1952-53).
In all original condition with marking to the cab roof ( probably caused by contact with the box staples) and general marking at exposed edges as you might expect.
The original, light grey tyres run well. Spare stowed. Thankfully, there are no dents to the tinplate tank and metal parts are generally bright.
The blue box with a paper label is fresh and bright with a virtually complete paper label (tiniest nick). Minor age wear, including a little of the usual rubbing to the box base underside. Minor seam separation to one edge of the box base. Period price at one lid end and on the box base.
An exceptionally difficult find
