D511
Dinky 511 Guy 4-Ton Lorry. Two-tone blue. Early 1st type issue with ridged wheels. Near mint plus/boxed. In blue export box. From the large European collection.
Notes
This very fine commercial Dinky model has a first type cab and chassis in deep blue, pale blue back and early ridged wheels (later issues would have grooved ‘Supertoy’ wheels). Large tow hook.
Pleasing lustre and such wonderfully bright metal parts make this an outstaning display piece!
At first glance, this model looks virtually mint with just an occasional minor dot at a wheel arch. Minute scrutiny reveals a few little touch-ins at wheel arches.
Cab is virtually mint ( and no touch-ins!).
The early powder blue box has a vivid paper label and there are no seam splits to the card which feels sturdy, showing minimal handling. Minor surface loss on the paper label on the lid. Bright staples. Minor grubbiness and penned writing at one lid end. Hudson Dobson U.S. export label is complete, clean and vividly-coloured.
Issued 1948-52.
