Certainly, this has got to the best surviving example of this rare set. Only 10,000 were made between 1959-60 and so this is a hard find in any condition.
The shopkeeper would have to order this set specially at the time, since it cost a whopping 58/4 (faintly pencilled on the lid)!
Particularly difficult to find the pictorial card outer box in presentable condition, let alone close to mint! Most that have survived seem to have sustained damage to the outer box.
The large military set comprises:
1) Corgi 350 Thunderbird Missile in air force blue. Couple of (obviously factory) marks on the underside. Pristine otherwise – including an unperished original rubber nose!
2) Corgi 351 RAF Land Rover in air force blue with RAF roundel and flat spun wheels. Factory-fresh condition, with a dot of factory silver on the roof. Complete RAF roundel, spare wheel. Such a bright baseplate!

3) Corgi 352 RAF Vanguard Staff Car in air force blue. Superb, fresh condition again, this Vanguard comes complete with RAF roundel, flat spun wheels. Beautiful!
4) Corgi 353 Decca Radar Scanner with rotating scanner. Another unused item – although a couple of minor marks where it has rested on the Launching Ramp in the box.

5) Corgi 1106 Karrier Decca Radar Van with rotating scanner & aerials. Shop-fresh and unused, with a little age transparency to the paper labels.

6) Corgi 1108 Bristol Bloodhound Guided Missile & Launching Ramp. A superb silky finish on this missile and Launching ramp. Clearly unused with bright metal parts. Intact rubber nose on the missile too!

7) Corgi 1117 Bloodhound Loading Trolley. Mint with a silky finish. Another lovely example.

All items are in as-made condition and have barely been handled. Gives the appearance throughout like old-shop stock. Such stunning unused examples!

The attractive highly detailed pictorial scene box is in outstanding condition – by far, the best example we have seen. So often the sides of the box are heavily torn with even sections of the box sides missing. This is quite a find!

Day-one bright colours and a silky clean and bright finish to the card. Tiny barely visible puncture to the lid (not full thickness)and a few small areas of surface removal. Nice to see that this set comes complete with both upper and lower card packing pieces in outstanding condition. Upper packing piece:

A truly stunning set that we are delighted to have seen – we doubt whether we will see its like again!
